Deciding on a career: an Insight

A good stable career corresponds to healthy living. Once we get settled in a career, we grow not only in position but also earn quite a lot of money throughout our life and have a great carefree lifestyle as far as monetary support is concerned.

Deciding on a career is very important because one can easily get tempted with various career opportunities which are available for youths in the job market. Most studious students opt for conventional career in engineering and medicine. Those who don’t have good grades settle for science stream while some opt for commerce or art degrees. Once the students complete their degree program they look for job and to their shock they find that they are not industry ready.

Getting just an Under-graduate degree or Masters degree in any professional domain is not a solution because what employers need is practical knowledge and due to recession these employers are always in cost-cutting mode and are not willing to train employees even if they are hired as trainees so in such cases fresh graduates have to get themselves trained, for example- an IT Graduate should have necessary skills in domain like Hardware and Networking, Java, C++, C etc while others like in Commerce stream should have accountancy skills using software. Having ready to use skills increases chance of getting a good job and enhances your career prospect.

Deciding on a career is never easy because gone are the days where people use to put all their life in one company earning their livelihood. In today’s challenging and competitive era companies offer good pay-package to highly skilled individuals and try to attract such skilled work-force from competitors to increase their productivity. Due to growing inflation rate one cannot stick in a career with miserly pay package and this leads to frequent jumps for one sector to another.

There are career opportunities in Call Centers which mainly requires Customer Service aptitude and one does not require a formal degree in any stream but good communication skills is necessary in language of target clients. The pay package is good especially for international call centers and is unmatched in most formal job sectors including engineering. Most Engineering graduates also prefer this career because it is much easier for them when they start-off and also they are paid better than others.

While deciding on a career one can also opt for Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Jobs because they give you opportunity to interact with global clients and have high pay structure.
