Selling IT Software Products


IT Companies who have been making huge profits are those who have a client base, who order for specific products according to their needs .

If one Analyses Profit level of a Successful Software development IT firm , the profits are more so because they make products that are purely what the clients orders for . ie , according to their requirement and not many ready to use products.

Selling IT products specially softwares is not like selling a FMCG , because these so called softwares are very costly and they don’t sell like hot cakes.

Small time IT Companies just keep on making ready to use products without really bothering about ROI and this probably leads to failure in business.

The need of hour for all IT Companies is to make client specific products or when they develop a product extensive research on product should be done inorder to catch end users .

There are Software like Antiviruses which are bound to sell (provided they are up to date and have potential) if sold at right price according to demographical situation.

Products like Computer System , Multimedia are the most sellable items and if you look at major IT Companies they make money giving IT Software Services and support to clients who order for a particular kind of software and not by developing ready to use products which are hard to sell in market place because it involves great risk of loss.


For Small time IT Companies who don’t have major clients , have to develop ready to use products and sell them in market place and this is the most difficult aspect and great struggle to recover ROI.


One should remember that making a successful software product involves great research , time , money and quality work force . So just making softwares which are hard to sell makes no sense , but right marketing strategies are required to up the Sales of any product for that matter.
