IPL -------> FIRST ,HEN OR EGG ?

This year IPL was a 8 team Competition , but from Next Year 10 teams are going to Participate this means that more matches in this League format where all teams play each other on home and away basis.

Looking at this type of format one keeps on wondering y there is semi-finals and finals being conducted . Isn't it Unfair for a Team at the top after league stage to lose out and not a Winner due to knock-out Games like Semi-Final and the Finals .

In English Premier League(Football) Winner is decided by number of points gained by a team and the one at top is always a winner.

In a format where different groups are made like the one in Football world cup , it is ok to have Semi-final and finals , but a format like IPL where all teams play each other twice it doesn't really makes sense to play Semis and Finals because at most times it wud be unfair to a team at the top . One bad outing in Semis or final can cost them the Championship.

IPL shud rethink on this current format and winner shud be the one who is on the top of the points table after all matches or it shud divide teams into groups and then it can conduct semis and the finals.

Consider IPL 3, the Case of MUMBAI INDIANS , they won 10 games from their 14 matches and had 20 points and the Winner of the IPL3 Chennai Super Kings(CSK) won only 7 games from their 14 matches and had 14 points.

Mumbai Indians Played consistently very well and Chennai Super Kings(CSK) only won 50% of their league matches and were very inconsistent but still ended up as winners , just because Mumbai Indians had a bad day in the final match.

Isn't it unfair ?

Mumbai Indians were robbed of a well deserved Victory because of unethical IPL format.

Mumbai Indians shud have been first and not Second .

The debate continues.... first , hen or egg ?
