Playing with Black pieces in the final round in a must win situation to retain his World title , he comprehensively defeated his opponent Vaselin Topalov , winning by 6.5 to 5.5 points from 12 Games.
Coming into this championship travelling more than 40 hours by Road due to closure of Air Space in Europe and inspite of losing the first game he did not lose his confidence and made sure that he came back strongly to beat Topalov.
Anand has always been a true champion in Chess representing India.
